Former Man United record transfer makes admission about time with Red Devils

Paul Pogba left Manchester United in the offseason after six seasons of football that most fans would claim were disappointing. Pogba re-joined former club Juventus after his contract with Man United expired. However, Pogba’s return to Turin hasn’t been enjoyable as the midfielder faces injury and personal issues off the pitch with his brother.

Pogba’s fitness issues could keep him out of this November’s World Cup in Qatar. Fans are debating whether France can win a second straight World Cup, but this time, without Pogba. Fans can get the latest sport interactions review before getting a first deposit bonus to wager on the tournament.

In a recent interview, Pogba admitted he needs to take more responsibility for a poor six-year stint at Old Trafford following his departure from Manchester United. The midfielder spent much of the 2021-22 season on the sidelines injured. This season, he has not featured for the Bianconeri since returning to the Italian club. Pogba is currently recovering from knee surgery, but also is part of a police probe into a potential blackmail case.

Manchester United paid a world record £89million transfer fee to sign Pogba in 2016. It was the second time the club had signed the French midfielder. After a decent start to life in Manchester, as the Red Devils won the Europa League and EFL Cup, Pogba struggled for consistency. In the end, the Europa League and EFL Cup trophies were the only pieces of silverware Pogba helped the club win.

Manchester United supporters were left with mixed emotions over Pogba. Many fans will be surprised by the midfielder’s admission, especially after the release of the self-gratifying Pogmentary by Amazon in 2022.

Pogba has confirmed his return to Old Trafford did not go as planned, and it is “no secret” it wasn’t a successful spell. Pogba had the chance to remain at Manchester United this season and play under new manager Erik ten Hag. However, the midfielder declined a proposed contract extension.

The Frenchman’s time at Old Trafford affected other players at the club, according to Guido Albers. Albers is former Man United midfielder Donny van de Beek’s ex-agent. The agent spoke out about Pogba and Van de Beek’s relationship at the English club.

According to Albers, Van de Beek realised it was time to leave the club after Pogba was picked to play ahead of him. Pogba’s selection ahead of Van de Beek came during a week in which Pogba failed to show up on time to train.

Van de Beek went on loan to Everton last season but still failed to secure a regular place in the starting XI. Van de Beek returned to Old Trafford this season to play for former Ajax coach Ten Hag. He has made a limited number of appearances.

Pogba played 233 matches in two stints for Manchester United, scoring 39 goals and adding 54 assists. The midfielder’s best season in front of goal was during the 2018-19 campaign, as he scored 13 goals; while Pogba’s best season in terms of assists was during the 2017-18 season with 10.
