Former housekeeper aged 8+ shares shower cleaning hack

Today’s showers are filled with a variety of amenities. Loofahs, shampoos, conditioners, leftover travel bottles that you promised yourself you would use but never got around to actually emptying — all of which can result in a full and understandably difficult to clean shower.

However, a popular cleaning TikToker shared his tip for cleaning the shower, and it involves a plastic trash can.

In a video with 1.2 million views, TikTok’s self-proclaimed “Queen of Cleaning” Vanesa gives a valuable tip. Instead of just tossing the bottles on the floor or putting them in the sink, Vanesa advises her 5.5 million followers to grab a small, connected plastic basket from the Dollar Store (or Target, “if you’re bougie”).

“Now take everything and just put it in like that,” she demonstrates. “So simple and easy.”

“Now you take out the basket and now you can clean!” Vanesa, who says she was a housekeeper for more than eight years, concludes.

At first, many commenters were surprised that other users hadn’t already figured this out themselves.

“Again, how don’t people know this????” asked one user.

“I can’t believe this is a video,” added another.

“Am I the only one who has already done this?” asked a third.

However, many commenters said they never considered the tip and thanked Vanesa for the advice while admitting their past shampoo stashes.

“So simple, but I’ve never thought of that!” wrote one user.

“It’s definitely just going on the floor until I’m done,” shared a second.

Other users offered their own tips.

“Extend this basket (even a tray would work) to all areas of the house to avoid making a million trips to clean/organize one area,” advised one commenter. “Very good tip!”

“I do that, but I also spray everything (that isn’t open or unprotected) with bleach spray and rinse everything in the basket because it gets dingy too,” contributed another TikToker.

The Daily Dot contacted Vanesa via email.
