A man claiming to be running from a motel ghost attempted to break into a home and was eventually arrested for burglary.

Andrew George, 38, told police he and Natasha Kachuroi, 36, were given a room at a Travel Inn when they heard the bathroom window open and asked for a refund, thinking someone was breaking in.

The couple, who were in Daytona Beach, Fla., then ran toward Beach Street while appearing to have a “shadow” chasing them, court filings obtained by ClickOrlando show.

They ran into the Halifax Marina parking lot and got separated, after which George fell into the water. Kachuroi helped him and the two found a store at 432 South Beach Street.

There, Kachuroi knocked on the door and George smashed a window with a chair, the affidavit said.

Tuesday night’s riot resulted in residents of a nearby home waking up and a woman walking outside to see what was going on. Kachuroi said to the woman, “Please help me.” Meanwhile, George ran towards her, after which, according to the affidavit, she went back to the house and locked the door.

George continued banging on the door, the woman grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to kill him if he broke in, police said. Kachuroi then tried to hold George back.

The homeowner called 911 and police officers arrested George and Kachuroi.

George told police that a “spirit” was stalking him and wanted to hurt him and that he could not get into the business “because God had told him (that kachuroi) that it was a bad person to hang out with.” .

He also told investigators that he decided against entering the home because he heard children’s voices and didn’t want to startle them.

George admitted to using “Molly” or ecstasy, and blamed it for his “bad decisions,” according to investigators.

He has been accused of two counts of burglary and is being held on $20,000 bail. Kachuroi has been charged with the main culprit in a burglary and drug offense and is being held on $5,000 bail.
