Flood-prone parts of Miami-Dade are bracing for heavy rains brought on by Hurricane Ian

MIAMI – Downpours from Hurricane Ian are already hitting parts of South Florida, and more is to come.

Heavy and gusty storms rolled through and lashed downtown Miami, causing some minor flooding.

Some were dammed up, clogged water forced a manhole cover to inflate.

“It was pouring pretty hard,” resident Dylan Furey said.

Boats were seen due to gusty winds in Biscayne Bay near Miami Marine Stadium.

South Florida is under flood surveillance, with more rain expected through at least Thursday morning.

With this in mind, pumps are in place to prevent widespread flooding and business owners have taken precautionary measures to place sandbags in front of their operations to keep flood waters at bay.
