Firefighters from the St. Louis area make their way to Bollinger County to provide assistance after the tornado

ST. LOUIS – Several St. Louis-area fire departments are sending crews to southern Missouri to offer assistance after a deadly tornado.
The Kirkwood Fire & Rescue, association fire brigade district And Herculaneum Fire Department are among those offering assistance to Bollinger County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirms that there were some fatalities and injuries from the tornado that specifically hit the village of Glenallen, Missouri.
FOX 2’s Chris Higgins surveyed the area and found extensive damage to homes, trees and cars. There’s also some ongoing search and rescue operations, and the St. Louis-area fire departments could offer assistance with that.
The National Weather Service has confirmed the storm system as a tornado based on radar data. FOX 2 is awaiting information on the path and intensity of this particular twister.
