Rowley, Mass. (WHDH) — The Federal Bureau of Investigations is investigating a Rowley animal pen shortly after a group of goats broke loose from the facility and blocked traffic.
According to Rowley Police, on Aug. 27, officers responded to a report that four goats were walking Route 1 and, with the help of Animal Control, rounded them up with McDonald’s french fries.
The goats had escaped unnoticed from the Hydrant Regency and Animal Control brought them back there, they noticed some “worrying problems” in the kennel. Rowley Police and Animal Control, along with the MSPCA and the Animal Rescue League of Boston, later conducted a joint investigation into conditions there. The FBI is supporting the investigation.
Police advised people to expect a “significant police presence” on the Newburyport Turnpike as a result of the investigation and are asked to drive cautiously in the area.
The kennel has been closed since August 29 and the animals housed there have been returned to their owners. The goats were given to the MSPCA.
