Father Killed in Everett While Protecting Son – Boston News, Weather, Sports

EVERETT, MASS. (WHDH) — A father was stabbed and killed while protecting his son, according to Everett police.

Authorities said the killing occurred before 10:30 p.m. in the Cherry Street area near the Walter Morris Playground behind the George Keverian School.

The victim was 45-year-old father-of-three Mark Luiso of Everett.

“He died to protect his son. He does,” said Liz Stoddard, a family friend. “He does nothing but take care of his family and unfortunately this time taking care of his family has cost his life.”

Investigators said a bloody knife was found on the bonnet of a car on Tuesday morning, prompting them to search the Cherry Street crime scene for a second time.

“Two suspects tried to stab his son,” a witness said. “He interfered and tried to defend him and was stabbed.”

The victim’s friends talk about the loss.

“He was a wonderful father and a wonderful husband,” said family friend Lisa Hogan. “He would give you the shirt off his back. He had nothing he would give you. He was incredible.”

Luiso’s wife has asked for privacy at the time, but the couple’s friends said Luiso’s actions were nothing short of heroic.

“None of us are good,” Stoddard said. “It will be a very long time before we and they ever think that they will be good again.”

Everett Police Department continues to search for Luiso’s killer and is asking anyone with knowledge of the stabbing or surveillance video to come forward with any information they may have.
