A 46-year-old father and his 27-year-old son died in a car crash on the Central Coast’s M1 on Saturday morning.
The couple were in a station wagon in Ourimbah, driven by their father, which “according to initial investigations … was stopped in the hard shoulder at the time of the accident,” police said in a statement Saturday.
They were the only people in the car at the time of the accident.
The 27-year-old driver of the other car, a four-wheel drive vehicle, was unharmed and was taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory tests.
Specialized police officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are on the scene to determine what happened.
“Drivers are urged to avoid the M1 at Kangy Angy as southbound traffic on the M1 is severely disrupted and traffic is being diverted to the hard shoulder,” police said.
