Fast food workers change deep frying oil in Viral TikTok

A fast food employee showed how she changed the oil at her restaurant and sparked a debate about how dirty the oil looks in fast food restaurants.

Her December 12 TikTok oil change for a deep fryer went viral, with over 6.7 million views and 661,600 likes to date.

The video shows viewers how she changes the oil in the deep fryer at her fast food restaurant. First, she took a tool and dipped it in a puddle of visible brown oil.

“What I was looking for was visibility on that little dent,” says @ Frieder.friend. “Honestly, both are pretty bad.”

After confirming the oil was dirty, she drained the oil and removed the black residue on the bottom. There was a considerable amount of charred grease on the bottom of the fryer, which she cleaned before replacing the fryer basket and refilling it with new oil.

While @Frieder.friend seems to be just doing his job, the dirty fryer caused a rift in the comments section. Some of the 3,365 comments complained about how she didn’t completely clean up the trash.

“Obviously you don’t know what you’re doing,” alleged @powerwashflorida.

“That fryer needs a bit of maintenance, not just cleaning,” @jm1191 claims.

@Frieder.friend addressed these comments in a follow-up series of videos, in which she further breaks down the cleaning process.

Others pointed out how she is giving her best as a minimum wage worker.

“You are all looking down on this girl who is doing the best she can with the resources provided,” said @morte_aeternax.

“Give fast food workers a break. If I got paid like them, I would never change the oil. ya will eat my old 9yr oil,” another said.

It’s not clear where @Frieder.friend works.
