Waking up early can feel like a chore if you don’t have the right system in place.

But fret not, because life hack fan Josh Otusanya has revealed an easy way to get up on time, and it only takes one item that you probably already have.

With Otusanya’s hack, you simply make sure your alarm clock is far away from you, but still close enough that you can hear it.

This forces you to get up and turn it off, and helps you actually get out of bed, which seems to be the hardest part for everyone.

If you’re someone who tends to oversleep, according to Sleep.org, there are a few ways this can be fixed.

Try listening to happy music when you first wake up to help you feel more awake.

If possible, set your alarm for a song that will help get you going in the morning.

Another option is to let in as much light as possible. Exposure to light can help suppress the sleep hormone melatonin, which in turn makes it easier to get out of bed.

If you wake up fine and actually have trouble falling asleep, decluttering your bedroom can make a world of difference.

Nic Shacklock shared her top tips for keeping your living space clean.

“Tidying your bedroom isn’t a five-minute job. It takes time and a certain recklessness to part with items you no longer wear, want or need,” they said.

“Our advice is to start small. Simply making the bed and tidying everything up on flat surfaces is a good start and will make an instant difference.

“Continue to flash your wardrobe, decorations, upholstery, and even donate furniture you don’t need.”
