Expect “booms” from St. Charles County through Wednesday

ST. CHARLES — Stay alert for some “boom” sounds from St. Charles County Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
A bomb disposal unit from the St. Charles County Police Department will conduct some explosives training exercises in the coming hours. Training takes place on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the New Frontier Materials Quarry, just south of New Melle on Highway F. Police say exercises could resume on Wednesday morning.
The drills are part of a controlled training operation overseen by FBI demolitions experts. Participants will inspect, disarm and dismantle potentially explosive devices, all part of a comprehensive certification training program.
Because of the training, you may hear some unusual noises over the next few days. If you have additional questions, contact the St. Charles County Police Department at 636-949-3000.
