‘Everyone in this town should be outraged’: Mother of 13-year-old fatally shot in Mattapan speaks out – Boston News, Weather, Sports
BOSTON (WHDH) – The grieving mother of a 13-year-old boy who was fatally shot in broad daylight in Mattapan on Sunday is urging anyone who may know what happened to come forward and turn the information over to police.
As a memorial grows on Babson Street where Tyler Lawrence was shot, his mother, Remy Lawrence, calls on city leaders and community members to help her seek justice for her son.
“Everyone in this town should be outraged, and if you don’t know what’s going on… I just left a funeral home,” Martin said through tears Tuesday. “I want to know where are you guys? It’s 11:20 am, someone saw something. And if you know something, say something, it could be your son.”
Although police say they believe the shooting was aimed, Remy doesn’t believe that was the case.
“He has no enemies, he was a boy walking down the street and they shot him down because he’s a black boy who looks like any other black boy and they mistook him for anybody and there aren’t any Pieces to pick up, we’ll put it on I don’t have anything,’ she said.
Remy said her son enjoys playing basketball, listening to music, his grandparents and his best friend Jeffrey.
Investigators were seen again in the area on Tuesday. So far there have been no arrests.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.
