Everton manager Frank Lampard is looking to sign a new midfielder this summer and is reportedly keen on Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour.

Having survived relegation from the Premier League last season, Lampard is now tasked with boosting Toffee’s squad on an extremely tight budget.

The club are struggling financially after posting £370million in losses over the last three years and their transfer budget this summer is set to be much smaller than in previous seasons due to the construction of a new stadium.

As such, Everton will turn their attention to free agents and loanees, with centre-back James Tarkowski set to join Goodison Park when his contract with relegated Burnley expires.

But Lampard’s priority is a new midfielder and, according to The Telegraph, the Chelsea legend has Gallagher and Gilmour in his sights.

Gallagher has just completed a landmark season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he thrived under Patrick Vieira and became a regular in the England squad.

Gilmour, meanwhile, endured a difficult season at Norwich and the Scotland international was powerless to prevent the Canary Islands’ immediate return to the Championship.

It’s unclear if any of the players would be available for a transfer, loan or otherwise. Thomas Tuchel will assess all returning pre-season loan players before deciding who stays at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, Lampard is also overseeing Harry Winks, with the 26-year-old almost certain to leave Tottenham this summer after failing to impress Antonio Conte.

However, Winks has been valued at £20million which could prove too costly for Everton, although they may be looking to negotiate a loan deal first with a later purchase commitment.

As well as incoming transfers, Everton are expected to leave several key players this summer, with star strikers Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin being linked with a move from Merseyside.

Richarlison is expected to attract interest from Chelsea, Tottenham, PSG and Real Madrid, while Calvert-Lewin is on the radar of Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United.
