Essex: Man dies after lorry crashes into row of houses

A man has died after a lorry crashed into a number of properties in Purfleet, Essex.
The truck left the roadway around 3:25 p.m. yesterday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite the paramedics’ best efforts, a man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
No other injuries were reported, police said.
Photos from the scene show the articulated lorry wedged between a fence and one of the Jarrah Cottages houses on London Road.
Essex Police said in a statement: “Officers investigating a serious collision at Purfleet are asking for witnesses and dashcam footage.
“We were called to Jarrah Cottages, London Road, just before 3.25pm on Friday March 10, following reports of a serious collision involving a trailer truck veering off the road and colliding with several properties.
“The road was closed while police and colleagues were treated by ambulances and firefighters.”
Thurrock Council has offered support to those affected.
