Essex: Man arrested after girl ‘sexually assaulted on amusement park ride’ | British News

A man has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a girl on a theme park ride.

The 11-year-old was at Adventure Island, a popular family day out in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Police were called to the park around 3pm on Thursday June 1 after reports of an 11-year-old girl being sexually assaulted while driving.

The suspect was described as a white male in his late 50s with short gray hair wearing a green T-shirt and sunglasses.

In a statement, Essex Police said: “The victim is receiving assistance from specialist officers.”

“Investigators from Southend Criminal Investigation have arrested a 57-year-old man from Chelmsford in connection with this investigation. He has since been released on bail while the investigation is ongoing.

“We urge anyone who witnessed this attack or has additional information to get in touch with us.”

Flanking the north end of Southend Pier in Southend-on-Sea, Adventure Island has been a theme park since 1976 when the Miller family bought the land that now forms the west side of the park.
