Erling Haaland has warned the rest of the Premier League that he is confident of scoring goals, winning trophies and improving as a player after being unveiled as Manchester City’s latest signing.

The Norwegian has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League champions and joins from Borussia Dortmund for an initial fee of £51m, which will rise to £85.5m with various add-ons.

The 21-year-old has scored 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund after scoring 29 goals in 27 games for Red Bull Salzburg.

He has also scored 20 goals for his country in just 21 caps, that’s what is expected of him when he comes to the Premier League to play for the country’s best team.

Haaland plans to continue his prolific scoring form, collect silverware and improve as a player, and worryingly for his future opponents, he’s confident of achieving all three.

“This is a proud day for me and my family,” he said in his unveiling on the club’s official website. “I’ve always watched City and have loved it for the last few seasons. You can only admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.

“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest coaches of all time, so I believe I’m in the right place to pursue my ambitions.

“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I’m confident I can do that here. It’s a great step for me and I can’t wait to get going in preseason.”

Haaland’s father Alfie played for City from 2000-03 so Erling has always had a strong connection with the club and is enthusiastic about the style of play they are sticking to under Pep Guardiola.

“I was born in England so I’ve been a City supporter my whole life, I know a lot about the club. I feel a bit at home here,” he said.

“I also think that at City I can continue to develop and get the best out of my game.

“I like the style, I like attacking football. I like the kind of positive vibes we get when City play football. I think it’s a really good fit.’
