Emergency vehicles help cars stuck in flooding in Hollywood Beach

HOLLYWOOD, FL. – A flood rescue vehicle from Hollywood came through the area just past Sheridan on North 14th Avenue where cars could be seen trying to drive through but ended up turning around.
The water level is too high and reached the knees of Local 10 Andrea Martinez on Saturday morning.
City workers were out on the streets marking flooded streets with flood warning signs, and they had sandbags loaded and ready to walk along Hollywood Beach.
The same crews have also cleared storm drains, checked stationary pumping stations, and deployed auxiliary pumps in low-lying areas prone to flooding.
Local residents told Local 10 that sometimes these precautions just aren’t enough.
“It’s a bit scary when you’re driving and the water is coming over the hood and the drainage systems aren’t working that well. I definitely wish they would fix that a little quicker,” said Marco Namath from Hollywood.

Local 10’s Andrea Martinez has seen an auxiliary pump that a resident told her isn’t actually on, but we’re working to confirm that and find out exactly what’s going on here.
