With EVs becoming more popular across America, there is currently too much demand and not enough vehicles to meet supply.

Tesla initially announced the SUV would reach the US by 2021, but was eventually pushed back to 2022.

Musk said in January that the pickup “will hopefully come next year,” referring to 2023.

“We aim to complete development of Cybertruck this year and be ready for production next year,” he said in a Tesla earnings report.

With so many new technology capabilities and supply chain bottlenecks, mass production is quite difficult, Musk said.

Unusual features like the steel “exoskeleton” only added to the production delay.

Despite the wait, Musk shared that Cybertruck will be a “special project,” just like a “fault in the matrix.”

During Tesla’s Q4 2021 earnings call, the CEO also confirmed that they won’t start Cybertruck production until late 2022 and will focus on existing models.

According to Tesla, the Texas electric vehicle company currently has four different models, including the Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y.

According to the Cars and Drivers report, Cybertruck will “accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and top out at 110 mph.”

“The twin-engine Cybertruck will reportedly hit 60mph in just 4.5 ticks and have a top speed of 120mph.”

According to KBB, the highly-anticipated EV will start at $39,000 and cost accordingly with various upgrades and features.
