Much of it was about his humanoid robot.

A translated version of his letter reads: “Today’s cars are increasingly like intelligent, internet-connected robots on wheels.

“In fact, humanoid robots are becoming a reality alongside cars, with Tesla launching a humanoid all-purpose robot (Tesla Bot) in 2021.

“The Tesla Bot is almost as tall and heavy as an adult, can carry or pick up heavy objects, walk quickly in small steps, and the screen on its face is an interactive interface for communicating with people. You may be wondering why we developed this robot with legs.

“For human society is based on the interaction of a bipedal humanoid with two arms and ten fingers.

“So if we want a robot to adapt to its environment and be able to do what humans do, it needs to be roughly the same size, shape and abilities as a human.”

The Tesla CEO goes on to explain how he aims for his humanoid robots to do boring and dangerous manual jobs at first.

He adds: “But the vision is that they will serve millions of households, such as cooking, mowing the lawn and caring for the elderly.”

He hopes that the humanoid robots are artificially intelligent.

Musk writes: “We plan to release the first prototype of a humanoid robot this year and focus on improving the intelligence of this robot and solving the problem of mass production.

“Thereafter, the usefulness of humanoid robots will increase annually as production increases and costs decrease.

He suspects that in less than a decade, the humanoid robots will be cheap enough that you can buy one for your elderly family members as gifts.
