The Gunners ended their season on a high with a 5-1 home win over Everton, but it wasn’t enough as they finished two points behind their north London rivals Tottenham.
Arsenal’s hierarchy has drawn criticism from fans this season, particularly over their failure to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window.
But Edu firmly believes Arsenal were fully committed in all areas to ensure a strong finish to the season.
‘Thank you season 2021/22. I have to say how proud I am to be part of this team,” Edu wrote in a message to fans on Instagram.
“We’ve gone through different moments throughout the season, but in all of them we’ve believed in what we’re working on – especially our players.
“I can guarantee that there has never been a lack of effort, dedication and commitment and hours of work from anyone at the club to end the season in the best possible way.
“Thank you to the fans for your amazing support!! As always.
“I am really looking forward to the 2022/23 season. COYG.’
Meanwhile, Arteta insists Arsenal won’t be afraid to make any major decisions during the summer transfer window.
“From my side I will do and the club will do what we need to do and what we think is best for the club to move forward and do it with the integrity and the honesty we have always done it with .” said the Arsenal manager.
“These players individually know their situation, when it is communicated, and then that situation happens face to face as they deserve.”
