Dolphin recruit Edrick Lee is ready to put on his dancing shoes and show off his stuff on and off the field.
That’s a huge step forward for the NRL winger considering it hurt to walk let alone dance for an extended period in 2021 due to complications from a foot injury that caused him to lose the missed entire season.
The 30-year-old scored 14 tries in 16 games for Newcastle last season and is ready to reunite at the Dolphins with cousin Brenko Lee, with whom he lived as a youngster and played alongside him at Canberra.
Dancing with Brenko and Broncos playmaker Ezra Mam, who is also a cousin, for Wagga Torres Strait Islander Dance Company is on Edrick’s 2023 wish list.
“We used to dance Torres Strait Islander together in Brisbane…me, Brenko and Ezra,” Edrick said.
“All three of us are waiting for the opportunity, when the time is right, to dance together again.
“Coming back home here and being able to dance after a decade and reconnect with my culture and family is a big thing for me.
“Hopefully it shows in my foot too. It’s something I was missing.”
Edrick had also missed Brenko, who left Brisbane Broncos to join the Dolphins.
