Deliveries to and from a major oil depot have been disrupted after Green activists blocked an arterial road linking the site to the M25.

Protesters from Just Stop Oil, an offshoot of Extinction Rebellion, formed a human chain along the main route of tankers traveling between the ring road and the Navigator oil terminal in Grays, Essex, on Tuesday morning.

Some were also spotted on a rooftop at the nearby InterTerminals facility, which is a five-minute drive along the River Thames.

Footage showed more protesters attempting to climb over a gate to join them, while security guards with a watchdog thwarted their efforts.

The group also claimed to have dug tunnels under roads outside each facility, as well as a third depot in Warwickshire.
