In a letter to parents Wednesday, Ecker Hill Middle School principal Amy Jenkins said all students will be going through bullying training after 25 reported incidents of discrimination and racism at school.

According to the email, the incidents involve students using racial slurs on various groups. Jenkins said they are very abusive and make students feel insecure.

The principal said the behavior was pervasive and often based on ignorance and influenced by social media.

On February 13-14, Ecker Hill administration will be discussing expectations and possible consequences with all students.

Last year at Park City High School, the district said over 50 incidents of bigotry were recordedincluding a swastika drawn on the underside of a desk in a Jewish teacher’s classroom.
