People living in Shropshire felt the ground shake this afternoon as a 3.8 magnitude earthquake struck.
According to the British Geological Survey, the quake struck at 3:36 p.m. at a depth of about 8 km.
They said in a statement: “BGS has received numerous reports that this event was felt by residents in Shropshire and surrounding counties.”
Several people posted on Twitter that they felt a tremor and wondered if it could be an earthquake.
Someone from Coton Hill wrote: “Laying in bed after a night shift – the bed was shaking and it woke me up. It sure scared our dog!’
Another said: “That was a real WTF moment. I was sitting on my bed and it starts shaking and then realizes the whole house is shaking.
“It was over quickly and I was like, did we just have an earthquake? Jumped on Facebook and apparently yes.’
