Early voting for Massachusetts primary begins Saturday – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) – Early voting for this year’s Massachusetts primary begins Saturday.

The early voting period runs from August 27th to September 2nd. Saturday is also the last day you can register to vote in the primary, which takes place on September 6th.

Massachusetts Commonwealth Secretary William Galvin said early voting, which Massachusetts began in 2016, is very popular.

“[It’s been] very effective in helping people whose personal work schedules cannot match election times,” Galvin said.

Galvin encouraged people to vote by mail if they can’t come to the polls.

Applications for postal ballots are due by August 29 at 5:00 p.m.
