Dusan Rakic ​​​​is charged with the murder of his ex-wife

A man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his ex-wife in western Sydney on Tuesday night.

Police were called by a family member to a house on Alice Street in Rooty Hill at around 8.15pm on Tuesday and arrived to find Christine Rakic, 53, dead.

Police also found her ex-husband Dusan Rakic, 50, with injuries to his neck and arms – believed to be self-inflicted. He was taken to Westmead Hospital under police guard in critical condition.

He has since been charged with domestic violence-related murder, violating an AVO and violating bail.

He was denied bail and will appear Friday via audiovisual link at Mt. Druitt District Court.

NSW Police Commissioner Steve Egginton said on Wednesday afternoon that the incident was being treated as a domestic violence-related homicide.

Egginton confirmed Dusan was previously known to police and said he had undergone surgery since his incarceration.

He described the incident as “tragic circumstances”.
