Dunkin’ Worker says she was assigned to work after she was fired

A TikToker took to the platform to express disbelief at being scheduled to work at her Dunkin location past the retirement date she provided in her two-week notice period.

TikTok user Abby (@abbyjulyanna.1) shared her story in a video that has garnered nearly 60,000 views since it was posted to the platform on Dec. 17.

In the video, Abby appeared to be at work, as evidenced by her headset and Dunkin’ beanie. She expressed confusion over her schedule, molding “was” in sync with the song that accompanies the video.

She explained the reason for her confusion in the video’s text overlay.

“When you schedule your fortnight and your last day is the 20th, but the manager schedules you past the 20th, even on Christmas Eve from 2 to 10,” she wrote.

@abbyjulyanna.1 told my manager I won’t show up! It’s on him because he didn’t get it after telling him I do my two weeks many times. ๐Ÿ˜ The management is terrible and the dunkin I work for can be toxic. I will just miss some of my colleagues ๐Ÿ’• #fyp #dunkin #managementsucks #blowthisup #fastfood #dunkindonuts #foryoupage โ™ฌ FAMOUS PEOPLE USE THIS SOUND OMG – neptxnic

Abby provided more context on her situation in the video’s caption.

“I told my manager I won’t show up! It’s on him because he didn’t get it after telling him I put my fortnight into it many times,” she wrote.

She also claimed that the management at her business is “terrible” and that her location “can be toxic.”

In the comments section, users expressed their thoughts on Abby’s predicament. While one commenter suggested she “take a Christmas bonus and then dip,” most users supported her decision to stop working after December 20th.

“Don’t show up,” advised one commenter. “You did what was asked of you. You have to figure out what to do after the 20th.โ€

“Luckily you gave them a notification, just don’t say anything else and just don’t show up, see if they text you and wonder if you’re coming,” advised a second.

“Two weeks [notice] is not even required,โ€ pointed out another.

Other users shared their own experiences of having their cancellation ignored.

“HR are still contacting me at my old job about bonuses and new training videos to watch but I’ve pushed my fortnight into September,” one commented.

โ€œHad a job that voided my resignation without asking me so I can work elsewhere. I’ve stopped responding,” shared a second.

“I’m still listed as an employee at a place I haven’t been since March,” wrote a third.

The Daily Dot reached out to Abby via TikTok comment and Dunkin’ via email.
