Drinkers had to help MPs with sobriety training

HILLSBORO, Mo. — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking alcohol-drinking volunteers.
It’s not a joke or a ruse, says Sheriff Dave Marshak, but a way for his deputies to get some much-needed training.
On Sunday, Sheriff Marshak made a call on Facebook and Twitter asking people to come to the train station this week and have some alcoholic drinks. MEPs will even drive the volunteers home.
Here’s the catch: Before heading home, the volunteers will help MPs test their field sobriety training.
These training sessions are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. After the on-site sobriety check, the volunteers will take a sobriety test to “determine (their) level of intoxication.”
Volunteers must not have alcohol-related arrests or pending criminal cases.
