Drag queen Fatt Butcher was caught sniffing poppers live at Joe Lycett’s Big Pride party on Channel 4 on Sunday, with viewers screaming.
Comedian Joe celebrated 50 years of Pride in Britain with a big queer celebration in his hometown of Birmingham.
During the two-hour inclusive extravaganza, which also included a lesbian marriage proposal, observant viewers spotted entertainer Fatt Butcher clutching a small bottle of the legal high and noticed they were making a cheeky move.
Of course, the internet went nuts for a moment, and the artistic director later confirmed the events on her Instagram story
“Mom I just did poppers live on Channel 4,” they wrote.
Viewers expressed their delight at the scenes on social media, with one saying they were “obsessed”.
“@FattButcher sniffing poppers live on @Channel4 alongside @joelycett is all I needed tonight,” said another.
A third was convinced that this was a milestone in television history. “Sniffing poppers live on national TV,” they said. “This must be a first.”
Poppers are sold in nightclubs, bars, sex shops, drug paraphernalia head shops, over the internet and in markets.
Sniffing increases blood flow to the body, giving some users a head high that lasts a few minutes, a feeling of euphoria, and an increased sex drive and increased skin sensitivity.
Because poppers can increase blood flow and relax the walls of the anus and vagina, some people use it during sex.
Some people say it also makes their erections stronger and their orgasms more intense. But for some men it’s the opposite and they have trouble getting an erection after sniffing it.
Queer heroes Boy George and Culture Club, Steps and Self Esteem performed at Joe’s Bumper Pride Party.
And, of course, there was a plethora of celebrity guests, including Hollywood superstar Rupert Everett, heartstopper sensations Joe Locke and Yasmin Finney, It’s A Sin’s Olly Alexander, and comedian Mawaan Rizwan and drag race queens Tia Kofi and Tayce.
