dr Roxy loses her medical license after live streaming Lipo on TikTok | US News

A TikTok cosmetic surgeon named Dr. Roxy had her medical license permanently revoked after livestreaming a botched liposuction procedure.
dr Katharine Roxanne Grawe of Ohio yesterday lost her battle to regain the right to practice law after the state medical board decided to revoke it permanently, MailOnline reported.
She was first dismissed in November 2022 after the panel cited “clear and compelling” evidence that her practice posed “a risk of imminent and serious harm to the public”.
The committee pointed to a specific case where a patient required medical attention after undergoing liposuction, Brazilian butt lift and skin tightening by the TikTok star.
The patient was taken to the emergency room where she suffered from hepatic encephalopathy, which resulted in loss of brain function due to a damaged liver being unable to clear toxins from the blood.
Surgeons later discovered that her intestines were perforated and she had contracted a severe bacterial infection.
As a result, the woman had to undergo multiple procedures to remove dead tissue, as well as an open abdominal cavity and skin graft.
The original procedure that allegedly caused the complications was performed by Dr. Grawe was livestreamed on social media, the Ohio State Medical Board noted.
They also stated that Dr. Grawe was obviously distracted by the operation as she looked and spoke to the camera during the delicate operation.
dr Grawe had gained thousands of followers on TikTok, some of whom enlisted her services after stumbling upon the content she regularly posts on her channels.
The disgraced surgeon claims she always got permission before sharing footage of the surgeries, but the state medical board countered, saying it was inappropriate of her to share the footage – and that she’s fully committed the interventions should have focused.
dr Grawe had previously been warned by the board. In September 2021, they expressed their position on the issue, saying it was wrong to livestream their surgeries and urging them to attend educational classes on complications, professionalism and ethics in plastic surgery.
dr Grawe ignored the warnings and continued to livestream the surgeries, the state medical association said.
In an attempt to persuade the board to reconsider their decision to permanently revoke their license, ABC6 said Dr. Grawe said: “I ask you from the bottom of my heart to consider my thoughts with an open mind.”
“It humbled me more than you can imagine.” “I’m willing to change my social media practices and will never livestream surgery again.”
A member of the medical board responded, “We found an extreme lack of professionalism.”
“Your posts were a marketing ploy.” In the video (which relates to the course of the operation of patient one named in the case) you can see her looking at the camera and paying no attention to the patient. ‘
dr Grawe’s TikTok account is now private, but she currently has more than 100,000 followers on Instagram.
