Downtown West gears up for a busy but cold weekend of sports and entertainment

ST. LOUIS — Downtown St. Louis is gearing up for another busy but cold weekend as the Battlehawks, CITY SC and more entertainment bring the crowds together.
The bitter cold that set in on Friday will continue throughout the weekend. Even so, the football stadium and much of downtown is expected to be flooded with people.
After big victories for the Battlehawks and CITY SC, big crowds return and gather at the same time on Saturday.
Kickoff for the Battlehawks is at 6:00 p.m. and CITY SC will take the field at 7:00 p.m. Not to mention a TobyMac concert at the Enterprise Center, also at 7pm
“Any reinforced patrols we can have from some of the other supporting units,” said Sgt. Charles Wall for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. “We will have them again this weekend to improve visibility, improve traffic control and hopefully have another good weekend.”
Parking meters in St. Louis public lots are automatically set to dynamic prices during events, meaning you can save money by paying $5 for five hours.
If you’re tired of parking, MetroLink might be the way to go. All three sports venues are located near MetroLink stations in downtown St. Louis, making it easy to get there safely and avoid traffic.
“We’ve loved seeing sports fans on trains in their team colors for the past two weekends, and we expect sports fans to continue using transit this weekend,” a MetroLink spokesman said.
“We had to get gear so we wouldn’t get cold, so we have the little hats and the little scarves and stuff like that,” said Melody Green, a CITY SC fan. “We have family that’s coming in, so we got it from them too, so we’re excited.”
“Prosperity for the city, more activities, reasons for people to come here from all over the country,” said Don Roe, a CITY SC fan.
