A grand jury investigating ex-President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results has subpoenaed seven of his allies, including his former attorney Rudy Giuliani.
Aside from Giuliani, Senator Lindsey Graham is among the witnesses scheduled to testify in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ criminal investigation. Graham called Georgia’s Secretary of State and his staff on at least two occasions, requesting a reconsideration of the absentee ballot “to examine the possibility of a more favorable outcome for former President Donald Trump,” court documents Tuesday said.
John Eastman, who had devised a plan to compile alternative voter lists to reverse the election, was also subpoenaed. Eastman was behind a plan to compile alternative voter rolls to reverse Joe Biden’s victory.
The grand jury also subpoenaed Jenna Ellis, Kenneth Chesebro and Cleta Mitchell, who also advised the Trump campaign on strategies to topple Biden’s victories in Georgia and other swing states.
Attorney and podcast host Jacki Pick Deason is also being called to testify.
All seven individuals are “a necessary and essential witness” to the investigation, according to files viewed by the Atlanta Constitution-Journal.
Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney is leading the 23-member Special Grand Jury, which has heard testimony from multiple witnesses in recent weeks.
The subpoenas issued Tuesday are aimed at those closest to Trump’s inner circle and his earlier campaign that juries faced.
