Dollar General Worker says she’s going to close shop

A Dollar General employee said she would close the store and quit after she was the only one to show up for work. It’s a common complaint.
“Today is my last day,” said TikToker Dani (@danisodope) as she expressed frustration that her employer was the only worker present during her shift.
The viral video has garnered more than 537,100 views and 84,800 likes.
“Therefore, working for others is not for me. These companies will literally throw you to the wolves and tell you ‘good luck’ and then have the audacity to upset you for not meeting their standards,” she wrote in the video’s caption, before adding, “[Expletive] DG… #iquit.”
This week, Dani (@danisodope) posted several videos on TikTok about her frustration and disappointment with Dollar General’s operating system and structure at their Fayetteville, North Carolina location.
@danisodope And that’s why working for others is not for me. These companies will literally throw you to the wolves and tell you “good luck” and then have the audacity to upset you for not meeting their standards. F🤬ck DG #f#fypf#fypシd#danirantsi#isaidwhatisaidd#danisodopei#iquit ♬ O-Ton – Dani ✨🪐🤎
Many viewers flooded the comments section expressing their disbelief or sharing their experiences with the dollar chain company.
“You work at dg? Because I was an asst there once at the end of Covid and I couldn’t tell you how many days I’ve been open and closed on my own,” claimed one viewer.
“Working alone should be against company policy. This is insane,” commented another viewer.
“Tell me you work at DG without telling me you work at DG,” another viewer joked.
According to careerbliss.com, Dollar General has a 3 out of 5 star rating based on anonymous reviews from previous employees.
One anonymous reviewer wrote: “I’ve been working for Dollar General for three to four years now and if I could find another place I would in a heartbeat. In those 3/4 years I’ve seen six different District Managers, three Managers, two Assistant Managers and almost a hundred cashiers. If you really enjoy working for people without being recognised, rewarded, valued or even paid well, then this job might suit you.”
The Daily Dot contacted Dani (@danisodope) via Instagram DM and Dollar General’s media department via email.
