DK Metcalf scored the first points in the celebrity game in a dunk

The celebrity game is usually full of people who aren’t very good at basketball trying to play basketball and looking pretty silly while doing it. If there’s an exception to that, it’s usually because a pro athlete does a pro athlete thing — think back to the years Terrell Owens played in the game and was so clearly better than literally everyone else on the floor.

Owens isn’t playing this time, but there’s a wide receiver who also serves as an outdoorsman in the 2023 edition of the Celebrity Game. DK Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks usually makes other NFL players look like they can’t keep up with him, so as you can imagine, this event has him putting on a show.

Metcalf did it from the jump on Friday night. The Pro Bowl pass catcher got the ball in open field with only the Dallas Wings’ Diamond DeShields standing between him and the rim. DeShields made a business decision to avoid him (which, to put it bluntly, is 100 percent the right move), paving the way for Metcalf to throw up and down with authority.

Between that and beating The Miz for the opening tip, it was a good start to the game for Metcalf.
