Destiny 2 Patch Notes 4.1.0 Added Solar 3.0 abilities, new grenades and more


With the new Destiny 2 Season 17 arriving today, Bungie has been kind enough to release the patch notes now so you know what to expect. These are some of the bigger changes coming with the new season.

Of course, the most important parts are the new Solar 3.0 subclass updates and a new healing grenade for those who want a little more defense. Here are other big chunks of the patch notes that you’ll surely want to know.

iron banner

  • Iron Banner reputation changes are actually intended to be more consistent with other reputation systems in Destiny 2.
  • Completing challenges and equipping Iron Banner gear, including Iron Banner armor ornaments, instead of swapping armor will grant an additional buff as Iron Banner’s reputation increases.
  • Added 4 event challenges when playing Iron Banner.
    • These rotate daily.
  • Added new intro quest.
    • All players must complete this once.
  • A new triumph and sigil have been added to usher in a new era of Iron Banner.
  • Bounties and tokens have been removed from Iron Banner.
  • Power level benefits are now disabled in Iron Banner.
  • Rift returns as a new seasonal mode, Iron Banner. Learn more about Rift and its future here.


  • Gambit Reputation: Completing the activity now grants 75 reputation points instead of 50.
    • Streaks of activity award 20 reputation points per streak of 15.
    • Overall wins should be 25-33% faster.
  • Reduced the number of wins required for the gold coin plated triumph for the Dredgen Seal from 50 to 30.
  • Quality of Life Update for Gambit Rewards:
    • Daily Rewards:
      • Added a new bounty for collecting heavy ammo.
      • Defeating fighters with Stasis bounties has been updated to include freeze aids.
      • Changed sending a blocker bounty of any type to send blockers of any size (with more progression for sending larger blockers).
      • Now players must collect 100 particles as a team, as opposed to the previous 25 particles that were deposited per player.
    • Repeatable Bounties:
      • Added a new bounty for defeating invaders as a fireteam.
      • Added a new bounty for defeating blockers.
        • This includes kills and assists when going through this bounty.
      • Defeating fighters with Stasis bounties has been updated to include freeze aids.
      • Defeating enemy Sentinels with finishers or assists bonuses has been changed to Fireteam defeating enemy Sentinels.
  • Updated variations of Gambit opponents.


  • Control: Each player who captures a zone now gets +1 participation point.
  • Elimination: Each round now lasts 90 seconds, reduced from the previous 120 second mark.
  • Chaos: Super kills now reward players with 3 points instead of 2.
  • Chaos: Increased score target from 150 to 200.
  • Mayhem: Reduced time limit from 8 to 7 minutes.
  • Rumble: Increased time limit from 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Showdown: Increased the target score of each round from 10 to 15.
  • Private Crucible matches now default to match mode settings in playlists.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the “Only One Ascends” medal to be incorrectly awarded when capturing a zone.

Raids and Dungeons

  • Disciple’s Vow: Fixed an issue that allowed players to exit the area near the caretaker encounter.
  • Glass Vault: Loot of Conquest can no longer be farmed on repeated clears.
  • Last Wish: Fixed an exploit where players could pick up Diamond Lance to drop Riven’s heart.
  • Last Wish: Fixed an issue that allowed players to fight Kalli outside of the intended darkness phase.
  • Garden of Salvation: Fixed an issue that allowed players to continually spawn fighters on either side of the Sanctified Spirit encounter.

power and progress

  • Power Bands have been increased for the new season:
    • power flear: 1350 (unchanged)
    • soft cap: 1510 (from 1500)
    • Powerful cap: 1560 (from 1550)
    • hard cap: 1570 (from 1560)
  • Character Power Boost has been increased to 1510 with the new Soft Cap.


  • Healing Grenade (NEW):
    • Unleashes a wave of benevolent solar light on impact with targets or the area, healing allies and generating a boon that grants restoration on pickup. Detects allies in its trajectory.
  • solar grenade:
    • Now applies 20 stacks of scorch to targets on initial detonation and 14 stacks of scorch per second to targets in sustained damage instead of a general sunburn effect.

new light

  • New Light Solar 3.0 updates:
    • New Hunter characters start with the revamped Solar 3.0 subclass.
    • New Titan and Warlock characters start with Void 3.0 subclasses.
    • Subclasses that you have not acquired are available after completing the A Guardian Rises questline and speaking to Ikora Rey during the A Spark of Hope quest.
  • New Hunter characters will start with Solar subclass abilities, designed to be friendlier and more attractive to new players. Additional abilities can be unlocked by purchasing them from Ikora in the tower and completing the meditation:
    • Hunter:
      • Super Ability: Deadshot Golden Gun (6-shot variant)
      • Class Ability: Marksman Dodge
      • Movement Ability: Triple Jump
      • Charged Melee: Knife Trick
      • Grenade: Swarm Grenade
    • Titanium:
      • Super Ability: Hammer of Sol
      • Class Ability: Towering Barricade
      • Movement Ability: penalty lift
      • Charged Melee: Hammer Throw
      • Grenade: Thermite Grenade
    • Sorcerer:
      • Super Ability: Daybreak
      • Class Ability: Healing Rift
      • Movement Ability: Burst Glide
      • Charged Melee: Incinerate Snapshot
      • Grenade: Solar Grenade
