Deontay Wilder offered to fight the undefeated star after confirming his comeback

Deontay Wilder has been called up to fight the undefeated British heavyweight Joe Joyce as he returns to the ring.

Wilder, 36, has not fought since he was eliminated in his thrilling trilogy fight against Tyson Fury last October. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is planning another world title but recently confirmed he will ‘continue’ his journey in the sport.

Fury insists he has retired from boxing and even backs Wilder to take his place in an undisputed title fight against Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua II winner.

The American has retained his No. 1 rank in the WBC despite losses in his last two games with Frank Warren, suggesting that meeting No. 2 Joyce makes perfect sense.

Joyce was scheduled to fight No. 3 fighter Joseph Parker this summer in a fight that has now been pushed back to September.

“He’s been in grueling battles with Tyson. The last one was a classic,” Warren said of Wilder IFL TV.

“If you’re talking about the best fights of the last 20 years, this fight [Fury-Wilder III] is certainly one of them.

“I don’t know what else he has… He’s a dangerous man and can hit, ask Tyson. So if he has something to give, good luck to him, we welcome him back. Him and Joe Joyce what a great fight that would be. Who would you rather see fight than Joe Joyce?

“You want to see him [Wilder] fight Dillian Whyte? I’d much rather see him fight Joe Joyce; [I] I don’t want to see two losers fight, I’d rather see him fight a winner and he would fight for first place.

Joyce, 36, is scheduled to fight on July 2nd, although the Parker fight has been postponed. The Putney heavyweight has beaten Carlos Takam and British rival Daniel Dubois in his last two games.
