Death Valley: Elderly husband ‘kills his sick wife and himself’

An elderly husband and his wife have been found dead in Death Valley National Park.
The scene occurred when Paul Fischer, 73, of Las Vegas, called the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office to report that he had killed his wife, Mary Fischer, 72, moments earlier, according to the National Park Service.
“Mr. Fischer has announced his intention to kill himself and told the emergency call center where to find them,” the valet said. “Mr. Fischer left a note in their vehicle explaining that his wife suffered from chronic illnesses.”
Law enforcement officers from the sheriff’s office, the county coroner, the park service, the California Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Land Management responded to the incident.
Further details about her death were not disclosed.
The valet urges anyone with thoughts of harming themselves to contact the Crisis Lifeline.
