Dan Walker has announced that he will be incorporating the story of Strictly 2021 winner Rose Ayling-Ellis and her mother Donna into his second book, to be published in the coming months.

The BBC Breakfast presenter and partner Nadiya Bychkova reached the quarter-finals of Strictly Come Dancing last year.

The couple were a huge hit with viewers, although they didn’t always hit the mark with the panel.

But it was Rose who eventually won the series with Giovanni Pernice after becoming the first ever deaf contestant to compete.

During her tenure, Rose helped raise awareness for the deaf community, which led to a huge surge in interest in learning British Sign Language.

Her “Silent Dance” – which saw the music pause for 10 seconds in an intriguing routine – was nominated for a BAFTA TV Must-See Moment alongside stars like Adele.

So it’s no wonder Dan wanted to include his Strictly co-star in his latest book project.

Sharing a snap of a Zoom call on social media, he told fans: “What an absolute treat to spend a few hours talking to @rose.ae and her equally amazing mother Donna.

“I’m writing a chapter about her in my new book. They are both incredible women.’

His second book will be a follow-up to his 2020 title Remarkable People: Extraordinary Stories of Everyday Lives.

In it, he shared inspirational stories of the courage and selflessness of people he’s met throughout his career.

It comes just days after it was reported that Rose could receive an MBE from Her Majesty after her work drew attention to the deaf community.

The Sun claimed the star was “in the picture for a gong” after her breakthrough performance “snake sign-language course registrations.”

“Not only has she raised awareness of the challenges that deaf people face, she has been a real inspiration to them – especially young people. She really broke boundaries,” a source told the publication.
