Dan Isom resigns as interim director of public safety in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – Dan Isom, who served as the interim director of public safety for the city of St. Louis for two years, is stepping down from his role.

St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones announced the decision Tuesday in a public safety news conference. Isom’s last day in the role will be February 11th.

Isom served as the St. Louis Police Commissioner and Chief of Police from 2008 to 2013, before serving as interim director of public safety.

Charles Coyle, longtime deputy fire chief and firefighter, will become the next interim director of public safety. According to Jones, a nationwide search is underway to permanently fill the position.
