Customer throws coke at workers after store ran out of Pepsi

A user on TikTok is urging viewers to help identify an individual he alleges assaulted a teenage cashier because there was no Pepsi at the location.

In a clip with over 2.1 million views on Saturday, TikTok user @verbalvillain shows a customer standing at a counter. After the cashier hands her the refund, the customer pushes the coke glass bottle into the worker.

“This customer got hired because we had coke and no pepsi so our cashier told her if she wanted to be rude then we would refund her which the cashier did and the lady responded by showing the glass bottle threw it at the cashier while she was calling her. ***,” explains @verbalvillain in the caption. “We’re a small business just trying to stay afloat and customers like that really destroy our morale.”

The store in question appears to be Tacos Baja on Whittier Blvd in Los Angeles, California.

“TikTok find this lady,” the TikToker adds in the text overlaying the video.

Restaurant workers are being attacked in surprising numbers.

“In a 2015 survey of nearly 1,500 fast-food workers, 12% said they had been assaulted at work in the previous year,” writes Kate Taylor for Insider.

On TikTok, commenters revealed that these types of attacks were all too common for people in the service industry.

“…this is assault,” wrote one user. “I only had to face charges for the same thing, except it was a 1 liter bottle of water on my head.”

“Dude threw a water bottle at my McDonald’s clerk and drove off because he wanted something he wasn’t paying for,” recalled another.

“I got a whole box of chicken litter[n] at me at pollo loco… I threw a chicken leg straight back,” shared a third. “I was 17.”

Others simply hoped further action would be taken against the customer.

“Please tell me she has been charged with assault or at least the police have been called,” said one commenter.

“Good for your cashier to stand up for herself,” added a second. “People seem to think that service jobs mean letting customers get away with anything.”
