Customer shares McDonald’s app hack to use multiple coupons

McDonald’s customers on TikTok share some of their favorite hacks for using multiple coupons on the popular fast food franchise’s mobile app.

The chain usually limits the number of deals, promotions and coupons offered in the app within a given time frame, but one customer shared a hack to bypass the 10-minute wait between using each coupon.

One TikToker, Jess Holden (@theholdens_), says that she typically places a mobile order because there’s only a 10-minute break between using coupons, and then waits a few minutes in the parking lot before placing another order, so she can use another coupon.

However, another TikToke, Sunnyga (@prettybabyga), stitched Holden’s video and said she found a way around that coupon limit without having to spend extra time hanging around a McDonald’s parking lot. Here is her method.

“So this young lady is talking about the McDonald’s app, where she defeated the system because she places an order, waits ten minutes in the parking lot, and then uses another coupon for a second order,” Sunnyga says of Holden’s video . “But I actually beat the system.”

She then instructs viewers to place their orders through the app and use a coupon as usual.

“Place your order. Use your coupon. Pay for it,” she suggests. “Take a screenshot of your order number, then go into your settings on the McDonald’s app, clear your cache.”

According to Sunnyga, by clearing your cache via the app’s settings, customers can immediately use a different coupon.

“You can immediately use another coupon and place another order,” she explains. “I don’t have to wait ten minutes, I think she made three coupons and sat in the parking lot for thirty minutes.”

The “Settings” referred to by Sunnyga are the general settings of the mobile operating system of the device you are using. This will most likely be either Android or iOS as McDonald’s only developed its mobile app for these two operating systems.

On newer versions of Android, users just need to go to their app drawer and long-press on an app, then tap “App Info.” This will take them straight to their app settings, where they will then have the option to clear the app’s cache. Similarly, users on iOS or Android can go to their Settings app, then Apps, then select the McDonald’s application and clear the cache there if they want to try Sunnyga’s method.

The Daily Dot has contacted McDonald’s via email and Sunnyga via TikTok comment for more information.

In the comments, there were some people who expressed their disbelief in clearing cache options in McDonald’s application. “Fake. The app has no options to clear cache. The deal trimmer takes 15 minutes, not 10,” claimed one user.

Another TikToker said the trick doesn’t work on iOS devices, adding that their time limit was also 15 minutes: “It doesn’t work on iPhone. You have to wait 15 minutes for mine too.”

For users who were confused on how to clear their cache, Sunnyga posted a follow-up video detailing how to do it in what appears to be iOS.
