Chipotle has been at the center of many viral social media scandals. A number of customers have called the chain, saying they are charging exorbitant prices for products the chain used to sell for less. This has prompted some former Chipotle fans to encourage customers to go to competing chains like Qdoba to get their food instead.

Another TikToker, @heyoooioo, recently went viral for posting another video, adding to the increasing number of “Chipotle Hate” videos circulating online. In the clip, she accuses an employee of the popular fast-casual franchise of trying to withhold chips from them.

She claims that a Chipotle worker forgot to pack her chips with her food, and when she approached the cashier to ask about those chips, she was told they ran out. However, the cashier was reportedly quickly outed by another colleague for lying.

In the text overlay, the customer writes, “When I went to Chipotle [because] I had a mobile order but they forgot my chips so I told the cashier and he said ‘we’re out’ and a random clerk said ‘stop [lying] and get the chips out of their backs, get on my nerves.’”

In the nine-second clip, which has garnered over 244,000 views as of Friday, the TikToker mime shows extreme outrage at the possibility of being denied the chips she paid for.

The Daily Dot has contacted @heyoooioo via TikTok comment and Chipotle via email for more information.

In recent years, Chipotle has been scrutinized for allegedly conflicting servings. In a Reddit post uploaded to a subreddit dedicated to the restaurant, one user claimed, “Chipotle doesn’t have a portion issue, it has a consistency issue.” they are supposed to give the customers to assess exactly.

Others claim Chipotle is intentionally reducing portions to make customers pay higher prices. The company also implemented significant price increases over the past two years: In 2021, an 8.1% fee was placed on the brand’s menu, followed by another 10.5% increase to cover employees’ minimum wage increases.

TikTokers who saw @heyoooioo’s post shared similar experiences they witnessed at Chipotle.

User wrote: “I witnessed an employee tell an entire FAMILY who had drinks that they were out of straws? Then when they left, did they refill the straw bin?”

One user, @springaura, wrote: “One time they made my mobile order with EVERYTHING BUT THE MEAT I ordered and I told the worker and the guy said ‘oh I forgot HOW???'”

Another TikTok user who claimed he was a worker at the chain couldn’t seem to understand why a worker would lie about not having product on hand for a customer.

“If we don’t have bags of chips ready, I’m like, ‘I’ll make your bag of chips in a second,'” they wrote.
