Customer says cashless businesses are great

One TikToker says companies that don’t take cash are “classic” and a “poor fuck you,” and calls out Austin International Airport’s cashless policy.
In the video posted by James Tison (@james_tison) on February 5, it says airport food courts refused to accept cash.
“I’m in the middle of Texas and you don’t take universal American currency? It’s fuck you for anyone who can’t get a bank account,” they say in the clip. “I’m sitting here with $50 in cash and I can’t buy food in any of these goddamn places.”

The video has amassed over 171,000 views as of March 13, with commentators discussing the restrictive policy.
“It’s so much worse at an airport where there’s a captive market. It’s not like you can go anywhere else for lunch,” wrote one user.
“Airports don’t normally allow cash purchases past customs. However, most places previously allow cash,” pointed out another.
Others noted why companies shy away from cash.
“You can hire fewer people and you don’t have to trust anyone with the cash flow,” said one commenter.
“Thought 4 U – when crime is high they don’t want to risk robbery,” wrote another.
“Management doesn’t want to be in charge of a cash drawer. it’s laziness,” added a third.
The Daily Dot contacted Austin and Tison Airport via email.
