Customer criticizes Crumbl cookies for being overpriced and overrated

The internet is no stranger to Crumbl’s slander. Recently, the popular cookie chain has been called out for using what appear to be store-bought Betty Crocker mixes in some of their desserts. Other people had trouble coming to terms with the fact that Crumbl Cookies cost around $4 each, and the brand has consistently been blasted for not being worth the money.

Red and Black wrote of the cookie franchise’s pricing, “A single Crumbl cookie costs a little less than $4. The four pack is just over $12 and the six pack is just over $18. The party box, which consists of a dozen cookies, costs about $32.”

If you’ve spent a lot of time on TikTok, you’ve probably come across a post or two on Crumbl. Modern Retail wrote about the brand’s effectiveness in using the popular social media app to attract more customers and help the Utah-based franchise expand nationwide. However, a recent viral post from popular content creator Newt (@milktpapi) shows that both he and his throngs of followers don’t believe the Crumbl hype.

The food-centric TikToker has millions of followers and his latest clip about the chain of cookies has been liked over 140,000 times and received over 1,000 comments.

“When you listen to Tiktok and buy cookies, people said they were fire,” he wrote in a text overlay of the seven-second clip. The video begins with him looking lost at the camera, then the clip switches to a box of six crumbled biscuits, each a different variety, each with a bite out. The clip then cuts back to Newt holding his face in desperation, clearly disappointed in his purchase.

In a caption for the clip, he writes, “$30 for 6 of the MOST TERRIBLE cookies I’ve ever had in my life.”

There are a number of people who have reviewed the cookies online and said they were overpriced and not as tasty as they had hoped. Others have called the treats overly cute, which was reflected in the comments section of the creator’s TikTok.

“I love that you tried them all like you really hoped at least one of them had to be good,” commented one viewer.

β€œThe way people defend crumb cookies is crazy how obv cookies are cute but should I have tooth decay after a bite? no, there is such a thing as ‘too cute,'” wrote another.

A few commenters even said they worked at Crumbl and admitted themselves that the cookies weren’t as good as some people would have you believe.

“I work at crumbl and they are DEFINITELY overrated,” wrote one viewer.

“FINALLY!!! I’m not the only one who thinks that!!! You sure are grossly overrated,” agreed another.

Others even said that Subway’s cookies are not only cheaper than Crumbl’s, but they taste way better.

It seems that Newt was aware of the fact that Crumbl was “caught” using Betty Crocker mix for her cookies. When a user asked if they would make a video of him making cookies, he had this to say: “WANT TO MAKE ME?? we make them and don’t even have to use Betty Crocker mix.”

And while there are countless people who have expressed their disdain for Crumbl β€” after all, taste can be subjective β€” there are a few outlets that have given rave reviews of the brand’s offerings. The Silicon Review wrote, “Crumbl uses only the highest quality ingredients in every batch. The difference is obvious with the first bite! The experience and offerings of the brand are truly gourmet.”
