Customer claims server ‘ruined her pregnancy announcement’

In one viral video, a server asked fellow “customer service industry girls” for advice regarding an interaction with a large table the night before, during which a customer punched her for putting a virgin drink on the wrong tab.

User Brooke Steinschifter (@brooke.steins) asked viewers if customers were entitled to blame her for “ruining her pregnancy.” The video has received over 468,500 views.

“Babe that’s a lot to unload on your server but I’m sorry,” reads the caption.

@brooke.steins babe, that’s a lot of unloading on your server but sorry🥲🥲🥲🥲 #customerservice #karen #serverlife #karentok #restaurant ♬ Original sound – Brooke Steinschifter

In the clip, Steinschifter explains that she served a large group of about 15 to 17 people. After taking their drink order and about halfway through their meal, two women approached Steinschifter and asked that they be served pure drinks “on rock bottom” because they didn’t want others to know they weren’t drinking, she says.

“So naturally I assumed they were pregnant or one of them was pregnant, and they just didn’t want people to know about it or whatever,” she claims.

Steinschifter says the table was nice and cooperative prior to the interaction, but despite that, it was a busy night and the table was splitting bottles of wine and had multiple drink orders. When it comes to splitting bills, the creator explains that it can get confusing even after asking customers what they had.

“When I split her bill, I made a mistake and accidentally wrote a virgin drink on a bill that wasn’t for the person I gave it to,” she says.

The customer returned the bill to Steinschifter, who said she must have typed it wrong. As she was walking away, she overheard someone asking who was drinking virgin.

“My manager calls me and she’s like, ‘Brooke, some girls just came up to me angry and said you ruined their friend’s pregnancy and they’re so upset, and she’s so upset that you ruined her pregnancy announcement ‘” she said, recalling.

When Steinschifter spoke to her manager, she says one of the women went over to the two.

“Yeah, I just wanted to let you know that my girlfriend is absolutely upset that you’ve been so unprofessional about the whole pregnancy thing,” Steinschifter claims the woman told her. “And now the whole table knows she’s pregnant because you gave someone the wrong bill.”

According to Steinschifter, the woman didn’t want to be given anything, she just “came over to have a barbecue [her] and blame me for the pregnancy trip.”

“I’m just so upset and need to know if I’m right or wrong,” Steinschifter asks viewers at the end of the clip.

In the comments, Steinschifter users affirmed that they had done nothing wrong.

“Definitely not your fault. If they go out drinking with their friends, they risk getting caught themselves,” said one user.

“How were you supposed to know she was pregnant? You are not a mind reader. They overdid it,” commented another.

“Bartenders and waiters here: They could have played it differently. you were smooth [as f*ck]. Was in a similar situation too,” shared a third user.
