An eBay seller was left with £250 out of pocket after having to refund customers after Evri had supplied clothes instead of a PlayStation 4.

Liam O’Rourke, from the West End near Woking, has listed his console and PSVR virtual reality headset on eBay.

They were purchased separately by parents in London and Sheffield planning to gift the devices to their children.

Liam sent off the packages about a month ago, they were supposed to be delivered by Evri, formerly called Hermes.

But one customer got an ASOS t-shirt and the other got a Boohoo jacket instead.

They both thought Liam was “pulling a quick one” and one of the parents had to rush to buy another device so they could have it in time for their son’s birthday.

Liam said: “They were both really evil. I tried to get the money from Evri so I wasn’t out of pocket but eBay just took the money.

“I had about £250 out of pocket. I was planning to use the money to pay for some decorations at home and instead I had to reallocate money to make that payment.’

Liam has already received a full refund from Evri for the Playstation and, after resolving a dispute over whether the headset was covered, expects a refund for the PSVR by the end of this week.

Evri said: “We successfully deliver 700 million parcels every year and occasionally something goes wrong.

“We spoke to the customer and a goodwill has already been paid.”

Still, the delivery company has certainly lost a customer in Liam, who has promised to bring his business to Royal Mail going forward.

He said: “All that (Evri) said was try to pay the claim, that was her motivation, rather than just looking out for me.

“I’m definitely not going to use Evri anymore, I’ll tell everyone else not to use her either.”
