Customer accidentally uses Qdoba Worker’s Tip Cup for Coke

Sometimes, when our brains are on autopilot, it’s easy to fall into the habit of mindlessly completing tasks only to realize our mistakes afterwards.

One TikToker, Madi (@madicelina), shared her embarrassment in a video that has racked up over 1.1million views after she accidentally took a Qdoba employee’s tip cup for her soda – only to find she had the drink into her car when she snatched an empty cup on the counter reserved for tips.

“It’s literally the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever done in my life. Do you think it’s just a nice coke from Qdoba?” Madi asked before turning the cup over to reveal the words “TIPS” written in black marker on the side of the cup. “Yes, think again. It’s, it’s her tip cup filled with Coke.”

The Daily Dot reached out to Madi via TikTok comment and Qdoba via email.

According to Skill Path, “Brain farts are just a part of being human,” but why is that happening? It’s all to do with muscle memory. “Studies show that our brain conserves energy when we do something repetitive. These little pauses occur just before memory loss occurs,” Skill Path reported.

TikTokers who saw Madi’s post felt for her, expressed her embarrassment secondhand and realized it could happen to anyone. One viewer said Madi’s experience “opened” them to a “new fear.” Another wrote that they were “hoping it wasn’t yesterday’s tip cup”.

When someone else bluntly asked Madi how this could have happened, she responded with a simple explanation: “I wasn’t paying attention.”

And in case you’re reading this and wondering if she drank from the cup before realizing it was a tip cup, Madi said she did.
