ST. LOUIS – A seasonally warm Saturday in late January gave many a reason to venture out of their homes and explore the surrounding area of ​​St. Louis.

Crowds gathered as St. Charles hosted its first-ever Bowl and Brews Festival at the Foundry Art Centre. The event has everything including chili beer, music and a chance for vendors to take home some prizes.

“Today was great. The sun is shining, I love being here, I love being with my friends and my husband and doing something different,” said Elisabeth Brown of the Foundry Art Centre.

“This is where you can come in, taste all the chili and beer, and then have a competition,” said Beth Norviel, director of communications and special events for the City of St. Charles. “You can vote for your favorite at the end of the day. We award first prize to beer and first prize to chili. … We’ve had a great turnout and we’re just looking forward to continuing to build on the event.”

While these guests spent their Saturday indoors, others wanted to have a fun adventure to the Gateway Arch and take advantage of the weather.

“It feels really good outside, me and my guys just walking around trying to figure out what to eat,” Ashley Lathon said.

“It’s beautiful. A bit windy but beautiful weather,” said Alejandra Madrid.

Some people say that it’s much easier to ride their skateboards in this weather.

“It’s actually pretty good,” said Dante Noel. “It’s warm with the cold air, it’s pretty easy to ride skateboards and everything.”

“We had so much snow last week that it’s just wonderful to get outside and enjoy the sun. And it’s a great place, right under the arch,” said Brennan Huser.

While the weather feels nice on Saturday, a cold front will move in overnight meaning it’s time to prepare.

“Mostly just to stay indoors. If you go to work, probably go early so you don’t get out in the weather so much,” Noel said.

“Probably staying indoors, putting some salt on the steps, getting some food, getting some water, you never know with this St. Louis weather,” Lathon said.
