Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted at Portugal’s training ground on Monday after missing Manchester United’s start to the season.

The 37-year-old has told United he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer to join a club set to play in the Champions League.

Ronaldo was due to report to United on Monday for pre-season but the club granted the striker’s request to be absent for “family reasons”.

On Monday afternoon, Portuguese TV channel SIC Noticias filmed Ronaldo arriving at the Portuguese training base on the outskirts of Lisbon.

It remains unclear if Ronaldo will return to Manchester before the side travel to Bangkok on Friday to begin their pre-season tour.

Ronaldo has spent part of the summer on holiday in Mallorca before heading back to Portugal.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has already held talks with Chelsea about a possible deal this summer.

It’s understood Chelsea are open to the idea of Ronaldo moving to Stamford Bridge, but the 37-year-old would have to cut his £480,000-a-week salary.

FC Bayern Munich was also approached, but the Bundesliga champions are not interested in a deal.

Likewise, Real Madrid have ruled out the prospect of signing Ronaldo for the second time in his career.

Chelsea have also been offered the option of signing Neymar, with Paris Saint-Germain keen to sack the Brazilian before the window closes.
