United enter the summer window after their worst Premier League season on record and a sixth-place finish means there will be no Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.
Erik ten Hag is looking to reshuffle the squad and has identified several transfer targets with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen being his two priorities.
But United are yet to secure their first summer deal and fans have already seen Liverpool add Darwin Nunez to their squad, while Manchester City finalized their £51m deal for Erling Haaland.
Arsenal and Tottenham have also strengthened with new arrivals, while United are still around £12m shy of Barcelona’s £72m valuation of De Jong.
Over the weekend, United chief executive Richard Arnold insisted the club’s finances were in place to bring De Jong to Old Trafford during a talk with fans.
But acc AS’ Manu Sainz, who is close to Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo, is “concerned” about United’s current situation and worried that their Premier League rivals are already pulling away with their signings.
It is claimed that Ronaldo was “determined” to see the final year of his contract with United despite failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League, but he now has doubts.
The report claims: “Ronaldo wants reinforcements at Manchester United but so far it doesn’t look like the club will push through with the squad changes he feels are needed.”
United’s pre-season starts next Monday but several players, including Ronaldo, have been given a lengthy break after playing for their countries during international games earlier this month.
